No one belongs here more than you. Stories by Miranda July
No one belongs here more than you is a collection of short fiction from alt. culture ingenue Miranda July. July is a sophisticated writer, but she tends to overuse the tools she’s already mastered. July’s greatest strength is her ability to draw quirky, yet believable, characters that the reader wants to follow. However, while she shows an inventive flair for characterizing an odd cast, all her fictive agents communicate with the same stream-of-consciousness ramble of mental detritus. The short stories featured in the book are also a bit uneven; while some stories are absolutely brilliant, a few fall flat or seem to wander off into the sunset without purpose. Thankfully, there are a handful of stories here that manage to be unique, unpredictable, and utterly heartbreaking.
