Run, Fatboy, Run
The problem with Run, Fat Boy, Run is that it is basically a retread. Simon Pegg plays Dennis Doyle, a man who is having trouble growing up. His issue with adult maturity keep getting in the way of him having a stable relationship with the woman he loves. Sound familiar? That’s because this Pegg vehicle is essentially Shaun of the Dead minus the zombies. (And a great deal of the laughs.) In place of the walking dead, the protagonist must prove himself by facing a marathon. Let’s face it, zombies are much more interesting than foot races, and it turns out that they’re much better fodder for comedy as well. The only thing that saves this film from being a complete waste is Dylan Moran’s hilarious performance as Dennis’s gambling-addict friend.
