All My Faith Lost – The Hours
You have to wonder where Projekt finds them. You would expect that the well would eventually run dry, but every year they’ve got a new band to introduce you to, some new sound that you’d be poorer for not having heard. Comprised mainly of Viola Roccalgi and Federico Salvador, All My Faith Lost forge a sparse, somber sound from flute, piano, guitar, delicate male and female vocals, and the occasional violin and cello. The Hours is comparable to the work of their labelmates Black Tape for a Blue Girl and Unto Ashes; All My Faith Lost work in a similarly existential ethereal fashion as Black Tape, but the overall atmosphere of their music resonates with the bleakness of spirit that Unto Ashes is known for. To be sure, there are very few bright spots on The Hours, but when a black mood strikes you could do far worse than this.
