As Lonely as Dave Bowman – POD
As Lonely as Dave Bowman’s POD reminds me of the Halloween I spent at Whitby in England. Specifically: walking along the cliffs, listening to the crash of the waves as they broke across the shore at night. POD has the same sort of feeling to it; comprised of lengthy tracks of electronic ambient texture, the album ebbs and flows without cessation. Minimal, yet moving. Massive, yet with deep subtly. Though I know that As Lonely As Dave Bowman’s focus here is on the vast limitlessness of space (Dave Bowman is a character in the Space Odyssey films), I just can’t shake the terrestrial memories this dredges up. It reminds me of a perfect, dark time, left behind, never to be reclaimed.
