Autoclav1.1 – Visitor Attractions

autoclavvisattWith Visitor Attractions, Autoclav1.1 have created a fine electronic assemblage.  A variety of styles get thrown into the mix; everything from organic IDM, bleak ambient, and even touches of more aggressive industrial sounds find a place on the album.  Visitor Attractions manages the madness without sounding like an overly-eclectic mix tape because, while Autoclav1.1 pull disparate influences together into a digestible whole, every ingredient remains distinct and appreciable on its own merits.  Perhaps more impressively, Autoclav1.1 give their (his) music an emotional identity.  Whereas many electronic artists attempt to divorce the soul from the machine, the soundscapes on Visitor Attractions evoke an atmosphere of wistfulness and longing.  Also, it is worth noting that this is one of the few releases I’ve heard in recent years where the remixes actually compliment the source material, rather than bending it out of whack for no discernible reason.
