Zombina and the Skeletones – Death Valley High

zombinadeathvalleyZombina and the Skeletones return–as zombies always do–with schooldays-themed album that overflows with exuberance and potential rock anthems.  Zombina’s formula remains largely unchanged: the drums and bass lines form the back beat, chainsaw guitars go straight for the throat, the keyboards add a retro flair, and Zombina and Doc Horror’s vocals trade off delivering potent vocal hooks that you’ll find yourself singing in the shower.  Yet, while Death Valley High doesn’t really push beyond the pop-punk horror rock style that Zombina and the Skeletones are known for, they’re darn near perfected it on this album.  If indulging in a world of decapitated girlfriends, dissolvo rays, and monstrous teenage hormones sounds like a good time to you, Death Valley High is the record to put on at your next make out party.  Extra credit for the great a cappella doo-wop of “Prom Night.”  These undead kids are top of the class.
