Coil – The Remote Viewer
Coil’s The Remote Viewer has traditionally been a piece of their discography that, due to its rarity, fetched astronomical prices on the after-market. Previously available as a CD-R or a digital download, Threshold House has “sympathetically mastered” the tracks and re-released them as an economical two disc set. The tracks on The Remote Viewer are all variations on a set aural theme: cracked pipe organ drones, electro-bagpipe shrieks, ominous wet mouth noise, and ceremonial drumming all hashed and rehashed for your listening pleasure/anxiety. This is Coil doing what Coil does best–chaos into order collapsing back into chaos.
(The second disc of the set is exceedingly clever and attractive; it is essentially a three inch CD housed in a normal-sized, clear plastic format.)
