Walk the Line

walktheline2Ultimately, Walk the Line is a biographical testament of Johnny Cash’s love for June Carter Cash. Johnny was flawed, spiritual, and symapthetic, and this might paint a picture of a complicated individual, but part of his appeal lies in his down-to-earth simplicity. I have heard it said that some folks think there are two types of people: those who like Elvis and those who like The Beatles, one writer wanted to add a third type of person: those who like Johnny Cash. To think that Johnny recorded interesting, challenging music for almost fifty years is indicative of his staying power and the truth of his music. Would Elvis or the Beatles still be making dynamic music if they were still recording today? The transition while listening to his cover of Rowboat segue into some of the hymnals he recorded is seamless, there are no gimmicks in the music and none in the man.
