Mabye because Steven Spielberg was involved (despite all his faults, he knows something about sci-fi, he just stinks at endings), maybe because Michael Bay was involved (did I want a dumb, summer action movie?), maybe because I had read a couple reviews that seemed promising, maybe because The Aristocrats had not yet opened… whatever the reason, I saw The Island. It was a dumb, summer action movie. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good. My thoughts: Michael Clarke Duncan must have owed Bay a favor, and Scarlett Johansson is stunning. But I finished moving, and the delicious BBQ almost made up for the speeding ticket I got after the movie.
