Morrissey – Who Put the ‘M’ in Manchester?
Who Put the ‘M’ in Manchester is a DVD of Morrissey’s show in Manchester on May 22, 2004. Luckily for me, I was actually at this gig so I feel qualified to say that this DVD fully captures the power of that evening’s performance. Morrissey’s career may be long, but it certainly isn’t tired; it is simply amazing to watch the charisma pouring off the man as he plays to a crowd of devoted fans. The song selections feature Morrissey’s solo work, both old and new, and a few surprising gems from the Smiths‘ catalog as well. Besides the main event, which is worth the price of admission itself, there are five live performances from the Move Festival, three videos, and a PETA bit to reinforce the idea that Meat is Murder. Watching a group of well-dressed older men play intelligent pop may be somewhat at odds with the idea of riotous rock ‘n’ roll, but if that’s your opinion may I suggest that you reconsider your position before you bleed all the poetry out of your life?
