I was fortunate enough to watch this movie with my parents, neither of who had seen The Sixth Sense and thus were not tools of the hype and anti-hype machine that surround M. Night. They were able to watch The Village with open eyes, and thus, so was I. Yes, many of us figured out the reveal in The Village just from the trailers, but did this make it any less enjoyable? No. It was actually interesting to watch it and look for clues, which were there in language, costuming and dialogue. As always, M. Night directs a beautiful movie with evocative music and perfect visuals. One or two “continuity” questions aside, The Village holds up quite well as a film.
