Sebastian Gutierrez, that incredible scribe who brought us The Mermaid Chronicles and adapted Big Bounce, must have had two scripts lying around that he decided to combine for this film. One was a movie about mental illness and incarceration for a crime not remembered, the second film was a Sixth Sense ripoff dealing with posession and wounded spirits seeking help. Add to this director Mathieu Kassovitz’ vision of using some of the morphing techniques used in Michael Jackson’s Black or White video, some of the black-and-white stop-motion effects from The Ring and Halle Berry delivering yet another awful performance (prompting many in El Lay to wonder if Oscars should be able to be revoked… run away Nic Cage and Helen Hunt!) and what you have is an almost unwatchable piece of garbage. This movie lived up to every expectation I had when I initially saw the trailers and marveled at how bad they were.
