Stuck On You
I remember seeing Shallow Hal for the first time. I was incredibly, pleasantly surprised, not at the humor, those Farrellys have always been funny. I was surprised at the heart the film had, the touching way it dealt with an issue that seemed, in trailers and commercials, to be played just for laughs. Instead Rosemary’s girth was presented as not a non-issue, but as an anti-issue. I recommended it to my pal chrisboy, who had had serious reservations about seeing it based on the creepiness of the “fat suit.” He enjoyed it. Because of my positive experience with Hal, I was intrigued by Stuck On You. Instead of a fat suit, this film bound an Oscar winner and nominee together as co-joined twins. This one looked almost creepier than Hal. It did not disappoint. It was not as engaging as Hal, but still had that incredible heart, and had good things to say. Apparently their next project is producing a film about two guys who rig the Special Olympics to pay off a debt. Once again, a revolting concept, but I’ll see it, looking for that heart and positive message.
